Updating progress weeks later makes it more difficult to reconstruct what has been done. The Day by Day view helps bring your attention back to your assigned work and its current status.
Day by day: choosing work
- Open Day by day and check the period. The operational view must refer to the activities accessible to your account.
- Use the available filters to locate the required work: the filter type determines which values can be selected.
- Compare project, tasks, dates and progress before opening the line edit. Don’t infer the absence of assignments from an overly restrictive filter.
- Re-read the list after each modification or change of period. To evaluate the overall effect, return to the project and capacity views.
Update progress and work
- In the Day by Day view, open the correct task edit. Check the identifier and context before changing values.
- Update the expected fields based on the work actually performed. A percentage of progress must represent a shared and verifiable criterion.
- Save from the form and check for any validation messages. Don’t consider a change applied until the list shows the expected data.
- Re-read the deliverable and the Gantt. Completing a task and achieving the overall result are not necessarily the same event.
Putting this into practice
At the end of the day, identify the right tasks and record relevant progress. A coherent description of the work performed improves the subsequent reading of loads and deadlines.
